OpenComments helps South Africans discover, understand, and respond to government policy consultations. We aggregate information from publicly available sources so that it is easier to find in one place. Please read the points below to understand the limits of what we can guarantee, and when you should rely on official sources instead.

Not an official government source

OpenComments is an independent, privately operated platform. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by the South African Government, Parliament, any government department, or the Parliamentary Monitoring Group (PMG). It is not an official government channel, and information shown here should not be treated as an official government publication.

Accuracy & completeness of information

We work hard to collect accurate, current, and complete information at all times. However, because we aggregate and reformat content from external sources, we cannot guarantee that everything on OpenComments is accurate, complete, or up to date. In particular:

  • Information is drawn from public sources such as the Parliamentary Monitoring Group (PMG), Government Gazettes, and government department websites, and may change after we have published it.
  • There may be a delay between an official update — including changes to comment deadlines or submission requirements — and that change being reflected here.
  • AI-generated summaries, analyses, key terms, and translations are provided to aid understanding and may contain errors or omissions. Always read the original government document for the authoritative text.
  • Source material itself may contain errors or omissions that are outside our control.

Always verify with official sources

For anything important — and especially before relying on a comment deadline, making a submission, or taking any action with legal or financial consequences — please confirm the details directly with the relevant official source. This includes the responsible government department, the official gov.za websites, published Government Gazettes, and the Parliamentary Monitoring Group. Where we link to an external source, those links are provided for convenience and we are not responsible for their content.

Not legal advice

Nothing on OpenComments constitutes legal, financial, regulatory, or professional advice. If you need advice on how a policy affects you, please consult a suitably qualified professional.
